At OctoDesk we hate vendor lock-in as much as you do.
Switching helpdesks usually means an export in a proprietary format, a migration script, and a history that never looks quite right in the new tool. It is the reason many teams stay with software they have outgrown.
OctoDesk does not hold your support history, so it cannot hold it hostage. Every request, every internal note, and every reply is an issue or a comment in your own repository. It was there from the first day, and it stays there.
To stop using OctoDesk, uninstall the GitHub App and remove the snippet from your website. That is all. There is no export to run, because nothing needs exporting.
The issues OctoDesk creates are written to be understood without OctoDesk. Each one states who wrote, through which channel, and what they said, and each reply that was sent to the customer is clearly marked. Anyone reading the issue in five years will be able to follow the conversation.
We would rather keep you as a customer because OctoDesk is useful than because leaving is painful.
Support requests, bug reports, and feature ideas live side by side in GitHub issues. No second system to check, sync, or pay for.
Every request is an open issue until somebody closes it. It has an owner, a status, and a history, and it cannot silently drown in a mailbox.
OctoDesk is in early access. Tell us about your project and we will get you set up.
